The field of
veterinary dentistry has developed rapidly over the past fifteen
years and is now approaching the same sophisticated techniques
that are available in human dentistry. Research has proven that
pets who have received modern veterinary dental procedures and
professional cleaning have an increased life span and quality of
life |

| A
diseased mouth can lead to diseases in the rest of the body, so
we at Animal Care Hospital strongly recommend annual dental
exams, professional cleanings as needed, and a dedicated program
of tooth brushing at home. When your pet needs a professional
cleaning, the procedure is very thorough: an ultrasonic scaler
is used to remove tartar above the gum line and hand instruments
called curettes are used to remove tartar below the gum line.
The teeth are polished, and we apply a fluoride treatment. At
the same time, the teeth are checked for any minor fractures or
gum problems, and we often use dental x-rays to examine the
roots. We also offer root canals, periodontal therapy,
restorations and minor orthodontics. If your pet has bad breath,
drools or refuses to eat, it may need a dental cleaning! |
