Dr. Steven Bishop |
Dr.
Stephen Bishop is originally from Kansas, but he has been in Arizona
so long the he can be classified as a "native." He decided
at a young age that his life's passion was to become a veterinarian,
so he attended Kansas State University where he received his B.Sc.
degree in Biology in 1971 and his DVM degree in 1973. After graduation,
he moved to Phoenix, and has been in Small Animal Practice ever since.
Dr. Bishop has developed special interests in the fields of internal
medicine, endoscopy, cardiology and advanced dentistry. He has also
been very active in organized veterinary medicine, having served as
President of the Arizona Academy of Veterinary Practice. He has also
served multiple positions for both the Arizona Veterinary Medical
Association and the Central Arizona Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Bishop is also a member of VLG (Veterinary Leadership Group) which
is a geographically diverse group of veterinarians and practice managers
that establish an ongoing forum to share, learn, develop and expand
management ideas to maximize their leadership potential so that they
can positively impact the veterinary profession, their clients and
their patients.
Dr. Bishop and his wife Pam reside in Phoenix. They have two daughters,
Allison and Amy plus two grandsons. They also share their home with three cats, Kona,
Polly, and Smirnoff. In his free time, Dr. Bishop enjoys many recreational
sports, especially boating, bass fishing and golf.

Dr. Mark Halver |
Dr.
Mark Halver was born in Bogota, Colombia, but he grew up in Scottsdale.
He has wanted to be a veterinarian since grade school, and always
had a wide variety of pets as a child, including snakes, rabbits,
tortoises, guinea pigs and fish, as well as the more traditional cats
and dogs. Dr. Halver graduated from Saguaro High School, then attended
Arizona State University for four years where he received B.Sc. degree
in Bio-Agriculture. He then headed to Kansas State University and
earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1981.Dr. Halver
has been associated with Animal Care Hospital since 1974 when he worked
as a kennel person, and he joined the staff as a veterinarian upon
graduation from Vet School.
Dr. Halver is a member of Arizona Veterinary Medical Association and the American
Veterinary Medical Association. In his free time, Dr. Halver enjoys
a variety of outdoor activities, including skiing, running, fly-fishing,
backpacking
and
camping. He and his wife Sharon live in Phoenix, with Their three
grown children; Michelle, Gregory, and Steven who all live in the
Phoenix area. Their family also includes an English
Pointer named Mick and a tortoiseshell cat named Thomasina..

Dr. Temple |
Dr. Temple graduated from Tufts University School of Veterinary
Medicine in Grafton, Massachusetts in 1991. She practiced in
northern Rhode Island (dogs and cats) and Central Massachusetts
(cat practice) through 2003. She accompanied her husband on a
work assignment to Shanghai, China and Mannila, Philippines from
2004-2006. While abroad she saw patients and advised on the
establishment of a pet rescue organization in Shanghai and
trained young veterinarians in Manila. She returned to the US
in January 2006, settled in Phoenix and joined Animal Care
Hospital. She plays the violin and enjoys traveling, hiking,
scuba diving, gardening, reading and spending time with her
husband, son Noah and their 6 cats.

Debra |
Debra is our new Practice Manager and she is originally from
Michigan, however she has called Arizona her home since
1986. She wanted
to be a Veterinarian since she was a little girl however,
she went to work to help the family. She then started
taking college business courses and began her career working
for financial institutions.
Over the course of 22 years in the financial world,
she worked in areas of Collections, Sales, Underwriting,
Policy and Procedure, Quality Assurance, Compliance,
Customer Service, and Learning and Development in a
management capacity.
She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business
Management and her Master’s degree in Education and Training
at the University of Phoenix.
She resides in Laveen and shares her home with three dogs:
Bud a Catahoula Leopard, Smokie a black Labrador Retriever,
and Snowie a white Labrador Retriever, three birds: Phoenix
a Solomon Island Electus, Ebony a Moluccan Cockatoo, and
Jasper a Yellow Nape, along with her four Quarter horses:
Lucy, Max, Cash and Hubba.
In her free time she enjoys riding horses with her
three dogs in tow, participates in Gymkhanas, fishing,
hiking, bowling, golf, traveling, reading, and working out.

Charlene |
Charlene is a certified technician and has been with Animal
Care Hospital since 1990. She is also the technician
supervisor and inventory manager. Prior to relocating to
Phoenix, she was a technician in Connecticut for 6 years.
Charlene considers herself to be lucky enough to be working
in the field which has been her passion from a small child.
While attending college in preveterinary program, she gained
a position working for a veterinarian. In doing so, she
decided that she loved the nursing aspect, making her
decision to become a certified technician instead. She
strongly feels that all pets need a voice and strives to be
the pet's advocate. Her "kids" are: Pebbles, a 17 year old
DSH grey and white tabby acquired as a kitten from Animal
Care Hospital; Toulouse, who is a mischievous 20 pound 11
year old DSH cream tabby; and Odie, her 21/2 year old mini
dachshund that she recently rescued from an abusive home.

Joyce |
Joyce has been working for Animal Care Hospital for over 9
years. She has 7 dogs : Trixie a papillon, Foxy Roxy a
Chihuahua, Buster Brown a Chihuahua, Herbie a Chihuahua,
Lexi a terrier, Pumpkin a chow, and Ashley a chow. Joyce
loves being around animals and people.

Lisa |
Lisa has been a receptionist for Animal Care for over 15
years. She has come to know the clients, patients and staff
so well they are extended family to her. At home she has two
cats, "Oreo" and "Gary" and two dogs named "Cookie" and
"Boo". Her message to others is: PLEASE SPAY &
NEUTER YOUR PETS SO OTHERS DO NOT DIE NEEDLESSLY.

Jen |
Jen has recently joined our team as a receptionist. She
lives in East Mesa with her boyfriend Logan and hopes to
move to Phoenix, closer to the hospital, soon! She also
lives with their Min. Pin. Hercules, her 3 ferrets
Ducky, Lola and The Fat Kid, as well as their colbalt
dart frogs and their tadpoles. She loves all animals big
and small and ends up spending most of her free time
with her pets, at dog parks or in pet stores. Any other
free time is spent with family, friends and loved ones.

is the first job I have ever had where I leave in a
better mood than I came in!"

Trish |
Trish is a certified technician and has been with Animal
Care Hosptial since 1996, but has been in this
profession for over 20 years. She has a special
interest in veterinary dentistry and is a certified
dental technician, she also has a special interest in
raising orphaned kittens. Trish lives with her husband,
2 teenage daughters, 2 dogs, 2 cats and a bird named
Ollie.

Christina |
Christina started working at Animal Care Hospital as a
technician in March 2006. She graduated from Apollo
College in October 2006. She has strived to excell in
the knowledge veterinary technician medicine.
She believes strongly in preventive methods such as
vaccinations, spaying/neutering, and proper diets for
all pets. She has three dogs at
home...Katie Mae her 11 1/2yr old 'Pride and Joy' Chihuahua,
Spencer Ray her 10 yr old 'Sweet & Sour' yorkie/dachshund,
and Foster aka Fosterific a 15 month great dane/ lab.

Mindy |
Mindy has been working here at Animal Care Hospital for
short time, and really enjoys her job and the staff.
She grew up in Iowa and moved down to Arizona in 2005
after graduating from college. She is currently not
licensed in the state of Arizona, but is taking the
state exam in June 2008. She is married and has a 6 year
old daughter. Mindy also has 3 dogs and 4 cats, ages
ranging from 12 years and 1 year. Mindy feels
that she has been successful in her family and career
and wouldn't change a thing.

Chris |
Chris has been a veterinary technician at Animal Care
Hospital since August of 2007. He is currently attending
Anthem College and will be Graduating in June 2008. He has 3
kids and 2 big dogs named "Miya" & "Nikki". He is finally
doing what he has wanted to do since he was a little kid and
is looking forward to expanding his knowledge of animal
medicine.

Julia |
Julia is a technician assistant for Animal Care Hospital
and joined our team November 2007. She had moved
around before settling in Phoenix. Before moving
here she graduated from Hartwick College in upstate New
York with a degree in Studio Arts. Her interests has
always been with animals and enjoys painting them. She
has previously worked with animals in different fields
from working as a zookeeper, bathing dogs for groomers,
and fostering animals for Rescues. She plans on going
back to school to become a Veterinary Technician.

Diana |
Diana is a veterinary technician here at Animal Care
Hospital since July 2007. Her passion is working with
animals and building relationships with the patient and
their owners. She has a five year daughter named Audrey and
one dog named "Bella", who are both her pride and joy. She
is a graduate of Apollo College and would like to continue
her education in behavior and obedience training. She is
very proud to be part of the Animal Care staff and looks
forward to her future in this field.

Ted |
Ted has been a kennel assistant for Animal Care Hospital
since November of 2002. His job is to ensure all day
boarding and overnight boarding pets are taken care of, and
that they have lots of play time during the day. Ted and
his wife have two cats at home, "Simon" and "Pandora".

Adrian |
Adrian has been a veterinary assistant at Animal Care
Hospital since August 2007. His job is to ensure all day
boarding and overnight boarding pets are as comfortable as
possible while present. At home, he takes care of many
various and sundry animals including three dogs, a myriad of
cats, turtles, tortoises, and other small animals. As a
part time employee, Adrian spends the rest of his time
taking college-prep International Baccalaureate classes at
North High School--preparing for university entrance as a
pre-medicine major in 2010.
