Pets age just as people do, and
the length and quality of life are very important. Today,
our pets are living longer lives due to advances in modern
veterinary care, vaccinations, dental health care, and
improved nutrition. But with age comes an increased risk for
the same diseases that older humans experience: cancer,
heart disease, diabetes, kidney and liver disease, arthritis
and certain hormonal diseases are common. The best way to
deal with these problems successfully is through early
diagnosis and prompt treatment. Geriatric testing help
establish healthy baseline values and identify problems
early, rather than waiting for obvious signs of illness.
Any pet over the age of 7 is considered a "senior citizen,"
and is therefore a good candidate for geriatric testing. We
also recommend this testing for pets of all ages who will
undergo anesthesia or who are showing symptoms of illness.
Our Senior Wellness Program has two levels of testing to
provide appropriate services for individual pets. Call us
today to schedule an appointment for testing or to allow us
the opportunity to answer any questions you may have!
